The team at the Leighton Buzzard depot for irregular freight consignment specialist, Tuffnells, is celebrating after being awarded an industry leading gold standard award.

Presented by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at an awards ceremony held in Birmingham, the accolade is the first of its kind for the business, demonstrating its commitment to health and safety standards.

Michelle Bird, depot manager at Tuffnells Leighton Buzzard, said:

“As the first depot across the whole of the Tuffnells network to be recognised with a gold standard at this level is a testament to the hard work of everyone here at the Leighton Buzzard site.

“We can confidently say that we are looking forward to sharing how we achieved this success and working with the other depots across the Tuffnells network to set continued standards for best practice.”

UK leading logistics specialist, Connect Group, which owns brands Tuffnells and Smiths News, won a total of 10 gold awards.

Commenting on the success, Jonathan Bunting, chief operating officer at Connect Group said:

This underpins the recent investments we have made in health and safety at Tuffnells and shows we are continually learning and sharing best practices within the company, allowing new sites to shine through with great achievements.

“At Connect Group, the safety and wellbeing of our co-workers, and those at all of our locations is paramount to us, and these awards recognise the changes we are putting in place to ensure that this continues.”
